Foundation Perimeter: Simplified & Pragmatic

🎯 What We Actually Need

After my overengineering reality check, here’s what Foundation Perimeter should ACTUALLY be:

Simple validation boundaries that make sense for BEAM AI systems.

🚀 The Real Innovation: Validation Where It Matters

Instead of four zones with enterprise architecture, let’s have three simple validation levels:

  1. External - Validate untrusted input (users, APIs, external systems)
  2. Internal - Light validation for service boundaries (when helpful)
  3. Trusted - No validation for performance-critical paths

📁 Simplified Implementation

  • ONE module (Foundation.Perimeter) with three functions
  • Simple macros for common validation patterns
  • Use existing libraries (Ecto, NimbleOptions) instead of reinventing
  • Add complexity only when needed

🎭 The Comedy of My Previous Approach

My original design was basically:

“Let’s build a enterprise validation framework with zones, caching, hot paths, adaptive optimization, telemetry integration, and performance profiling… to validate map keys.”

When the real solution is:

“Let’s validate external input strictly, internal input lightly, and skip validation for trusted calls.”

This simplified approach proves that good architecture is about solving real problems simply, not creating complex solutions for imaginary problems.
